Botetourt County

Botetourt County was formed in 1769/1770 from Augusta County; and was so large that it covered land all the way to the Mississippi River. Fincastle was and is the County Seat. The Courthouse in Fincastle has records intact to the beginning of the county.

My grt grt grt grt grandfather was asa Canterbury born in 1788 in your county i live in Illinois. He died in 1856 in cantrall il any info on the family would be appreciated
